Comic Con

I can’t go to the Calgary Comic Expo this weekend, because it’s too expensive and I’m saving money. Some of my friends are going. When I go to a comic con, I like to meet the artist community. I’m into comics and I want to meet comic creators, like pencillers, inkers and writers. I have some photos with celebrities, but that’s not what I care about. I enjoy seeing what the artists have at their table. If I have money, I might buy a splash page or a commission from someone. That’s what I love.

My blog readers know that my son and his girlfriend are giving me a trip to the New York Comic Con. There will be many creators there to meet and sign things. I have some comics to bring and some to buy there. I will also bring some comic boards to get sketches from different artists if I can afford it.

I am so excited about New York Comic Con! It’s been my dream to go there for a long time. I can’t wait to see the amazing guests, panels, and exhibits. I hope to meet some of my favorite comic creators, like Jim Lee, Scott Snyder, Jason Fabok, and Gary Frank. I also want to discover new artists and support their work. I’m sure I’ll find some gems in the Artist Alley and the Small Press art. I think it will be a lot of fun and a great experience.

An Air BnB in New Jersey is our place to stay, but Jay and Silent Bob’s Secret Stash looks too far from there on a map. Maybe we can use an Uber or something.

We understand that the con will have a lot of activities. We will try to organize most of our trip based on the con and then the attractions of New York. We are interested in seeing places like Statue of Liberty, Times Square and maybe places like the MET and the Museum of Modern Art, but I have not brought them up yet. We would also like to visit Mid Town Comics and Kinokuniya which is a manga store.  There is a lot to discuss in the next several months, but before we know it October 16th will be here.

I’m very grateful to my son and his girlfriend for giving me this opportunity. I can’t thank them enough. They are the best! I have said pretty much all I can say for now, but as things develop, I will blog about them. Goodbye, Vietnam! That’s right, I’m history, I’m outta here, I got the lucky ticket home, baby.

You should take the Warriors route home, from Van Cortlandt Park to Coney Island! 🙂
