Comic Store Customer Service

My son Ryan, his girlfriend Allison and I went on a tour of comic stores in Edmonton. We visited several stores and evaluated them. Many of them had poor customer service. The ones that stood out with good customer service were “We Have Issues” and “Comic Fever”. “Sanctum Comics” was decent too. Some of the worst ones were “Comic King” and “Warp 2”. The most disappointing one was “Ultimate Key Issues”. They were unhelpful and rude. I will never go back to that store. I don’t recommend a store that treats its customers like that.

One game store had great customer service. They were friendly and helpful. I bought a dice tower, but it was the wrong one when I got home. I emailed them and they replied to the next day. They said they would send me the right dice tower and a free return label. Then they said I could keep the wrong dice tower. That is good customer service. Thank you, Mission Fun and Games.

When someone comes into your store, you should always welcome them warmly. Ask them if they need any assistance in locating something. Also, if they want something that you don’t have in stock, check if you can order it for them and suggest a substitute if you can’t. Regardless of whether they make a purchase or not, try to bid them farewell if possible.

How you present your business is what matters. I loved working in a Comic Store, and I showed that to customers. It was good practice. You want your business to succeed, so practice customer service. It will help your bottom line.

That’s all I have for today. Here are some words to live by, Hail to the king, baby.
